I looked on Space Weather today and saw that there were several sunspots facing Earthward. I went out to the courtyard and snapped this image through my solar filter. I later annotated the spot numbers according to the solar image on the website above. My camera was not able to resolve all the spots, but I think it did OK. Click on the image to enlarge.
I drained the spa a couple of weeks ago to flush the pipes out and clean the filter. Today, I went to refill it and accidentally let it overflow. Verna came to the rescue and bailed out a bunch of water to put on her garden plants and some of the shrubs around the house and courtyard.

I bought a bunch of flowers when we went shopping today. In it, there were a half-dozen stargazer lilies and a half-dozen red roses. I had some baby’s breath left over from the last flowers, so I placed the new ones in the vase with the old. This red rosebud in front looks very pretty. Click on the image to enlarge.
I took this photo of one of the curve-billed thrasher parents sitting in the nest yesterday. Verna peeked in the nest earlier and saw that the three eggs still had not hatched. The cholla where the bird is sitting is about 20 feet in front of the courtyard where I captured the image. Click to enlarge.
I photographed what appears to be a dove snacking on the fruit of a saguaro up the road. We were on our way home from a short shopping trip as we passed this cactus about a block away from our driveway. Click on the image to enlarge.
One of the best things about retirement is the food. Verna prepared today’s lunch with a commercial salad kit and some left over NY steak, served with a cold spicy drink, this lunch was filling but not heavy and the drink refreshing on a 105° day. Click on the image to enlarge.
