Sonoran Delights

Sonoran Delights

After shopping in Surprise today, we took a drive up toward Castle Hot Springs. The area up there is a beautiful Sonoran Desert saguaro forest with teddy bear cholla, compass cactus and prickly pear among the usual creosote and mesquite. Click on the image to enlarge.

US Highway 60 Improvements

US Highway 60 Improvements

Through most of the summer, the Arizona Department of Transpiration has been working on a one mile stretch of US Highway 60 (Wickenburg Way) through the west side of town. Now, the work is nearly completed with just some landscape details along the roadside remaining. Click on the image to enlarge.

Gar and Sara Visit

Gar and Sara Visit

My son, Gar, and his girl friend, Sara, paid us a visit today. It was a semi-surprise since we knew they would be in Arizona but we didn’t know when. They visited for a while and then continued on the rest of their vacation. Click on the image to enlarge.

Erosion Control Project

I collected some more rocks from around the lot and placed them along the road to shore up the rocks I placed there on Wednesday. Verna came out to help also. She took this picture of me working on the project when she brought the dogs out for their run.

I took the panoramic image seen above after the day’s work was complete. I still want to move more of the one-inch red gravel to cover some of the bare spots. Click on the image to enlarge.
