Saguaro Shack

Verna drove home from the Colorado River yesterday, so I was in charge of the camera. On the road near Bouse (rhymes with house) Arizona, I took a photo of a little roadside stand where the porch had been built around a couple of saguaro cacti. Click on the image to enlarge.

At the River

Bob and I had a wonderful visit with our friends Jim and Karen when we went to their riverside home on the Colorado in Earp, CA. It’s just across the river from Parker, AZ. We had a lot of fun and met a lot of great people that live in Jim and Karen’s riverside community.

This is Karen and I walking Bear, Cabela and Bay-Bay on the shores of the river just a stone’s throw from their home. We had a lot of fun during our visit. Click on the image to enlarge.

The Spa is Operational

spa-open.jpgYesterday, we filled the spa and turned on the heater. I checked the PH balance this morning and the chemicals I added yesterday were right on (chlorine crystals and clarifier tablets).

The water isn’t as clear as we’ve seen it, but the clarity will improve as we use the spa this spring and maintain the proper chemical balance. It improved last summer and fall.

The water, however, was nice and warm at 100 °. The weather cooperated and this afternoon peaked at 80° (see inset time/temp) which is warm enough to use the spa without freezing your a$$ when getting out. Tomorrow is also forecast to be nice, so we may take another dip before the expected cool front moves through on Wednesday.

Today’s spa session was for about 15 minutes before we got out. Staying in too long isn’t recommended, so we’re taking it easy by limiting our relaxation. We ran the air bubbles for a few minutes which added to the relaxation.

Another grueling day of retirement. 😉 Image courtesy of my Canon SX110 IS robot. Click to enlarge.

Range Day

range-day.jpgVerna and I have made an early New Year’s resolution; we will be going to the range on Fridays (weather permitting). We were there two Fridays ago but missed last week doing pre-Christmas chores. We went today and had a great time.

We brought our 9mm and .357 guns today. Verna brought her S&W 908S 9mm pistol while I brought both “Little Boy” and “Jerry Lee,” my Glock 26 pistol and S&W 686 revolver, respectively. In the image above, she is shooting “Little Boy” and I am getting ready to shoot her 608. We each shot about 50 rounds of 9mm and we both shot about 50 rounds of .38 special ammo. We stayed about an hour at the range before heading back to our nice little house.
