Grillin’ Weather

Grillin’

Even though we roll out the grill no matter what the weather is, we are glad to see warmer temperatures for weekend grilling. Yesterday (and today) saw temperatures in the 80’s and blue skies.

This is me smiling for Verna’s camera and posing with my usual BBQ tools; tongs, stopwatch, mitts and (in the background) a Samuel Adams beer. Click on the image to enlarge.

Sonoran Desert Panorama

Sonoran Desert Panorama

Verna snapped a photo of the desert today on our way home from the valley. I cropped it down and made this panorama of the Sonoran Desert between Wittmann and Morristown along US route 60. It was a wonderful spring day with mild temperatures, partly cloudy skies and very little traffic! Click on the image to enlarge to full-sized panorama.

The Dog Park

Verna and I took the dogs to the Wickenburg Dog Park today. It was sort of a blustery, but not cold, spring day but the dogs did not notice nor care. They enjoyed running free, chasing around the park and were generally enjoying themselves.

When they had their fill of all this freedom and exercise, they came to the exit gate ready to get back on their leashes and head home. Click on the image above to alternate between two scenes Verna captured at the park.

Important Retirement Jobs

Important Retirement Job

Verna took this photo of me and Cabela as we were returning down the road from our mid-morning walk. Verna was walking with Bay Bay following us down the road toward our house seen in the background on the left.

Walking with the dogs is one of the most important occupations that we, as seniors, have. It gives them the necessary trip outdoors to do whatever comes naturally, and it gives us some very beneficial exercise during the several trips taken each day. Click on the image to enlarge.

A Perfect Day For Grilling

Grillmeister

Verna had a notion to have stuffed pork chops and since she had a surplus of cream cheese, she wanted to add mashed potatoes that used that ingredient. We deviated from stuffed baked pork chops to cooking them on the grill and serving the stuffing on the side. The grillmeister can be seen in the image above. Some poached sugar snap peas and Verna’s excellent gravy completed the meal. It sure was good. Click here to view this sumptuous meal.

Desert Photography and First Signs of Spring

The neighbors house is on a two-acre spread, most of which is natural desert flora and fauna. Among those is this nice Beavertail Cactus (opuntia basilaris) which just started displaying its beautiful bright pink flowers. Click on the image to enlarge.

Beavertail Cactus Flowers

I took this photo of Verna taking the above photo. When she sees our Beavertails flowers opening, I’m sure she will post some nice close up cactus flowers. Click on the image to enlarge.
