Vacation

Throwback Thursday – Arches National Park

Arches National Park

Verna and I were visiting Arches National Park on July 21, 2008. This was when we were still considering retirement in about a year from then and deciding to use up some of our accrued vacation time.

The object in the background is a sandstone hill where three arches-in-progress graphically show the evolution of arches sculpted by wind and rain. There is a mostly completed arch on the left side with a just beginning stage in the middle and an intermediate stage arch-in-the making on the right.

Visiting Our Grandson

Baby G Four Teeth

We are in California this evening relaxing after the drive here from our Arizona home. We had a good crossing with cooler than seasonal weather and no significant wind issues. There were a lot of Big Rigs on the road, but we fought that off and got to the campground without incident.

The baby is cuter than ever and sporting four upper and four lower teeth. We just love him.

SR71 and Verna

SR71 and Verna

I took this photo of Verna posing with an SR71 at the Pima Air Museum near Tucson, AZ. I scanned in some images for throwback Thursday which made it onto the FecesBook® but missed this one on here a day late. The photo had to have been taken in the early 2000’s before we went digital. A Lot of Bull

A Lot of Bull

This wonderful welded sculpture of a bull seems to be guarding the gateway to the large yard belonging to a pottery shop in Harcuvar, Arizona. This artistic bull appears to be full-sized and is in reasonable proportions to the real thing.

There are several other metallic sculptures at this place, including a covered wagon, many horses, dogs, other critters and a two-horse drawn stage coach.

One of these days, we’re going to have to stop and see the inside of this pottery shop. This trip, we had gusty winds, were tired and just wanted to get home..

Desert Hibiscus

Desert Hibiscus

When we arrived in the RV park last Friday, we needed to walk over to one of the administration buildings to purchase some ice for the cooler. Right outside of the door, a hibiscus bush had several open flowers. I couldn’t resist capturing this image of that beautiful orange flower. Click on the image to enlarge.

Portable Baby Caddy

Portable Baby Caddy

When the kids bring our grandson to visit us in the RV, we saw a need to have something like in the image above; a place where baby can sit while the parents and grandparents do their visiting. The little fold-up item is a KidCo GoPod portable baby activity station. We now need to purchase some little toy items that can be attached to the Velcro strips surrounding the baby. We brought the GoPod this visit to California and the baby seemed to like being in it. The baby activity toy he has needs to be attached – well – so it doesn’t get pushed or tossed on the floor. We’re working on that.
