Overdue Turquoise

Verna and I were in Tombstone, AZ yesterday and today. While we were there, I was able to finally get Verna’s eleventh anniversary gift. According to the anniversary gemstone list, year eleven calls for turquoise. We found a little boutique near the O.K. Corral in town that had this bracelet, which nicely matches her earrings that I got for her at the same time. Click for bigger.

Another Pelican

Yesterday, Verna posted about a pelican.

Today I am posting a photo of another pelican - a Pelican™ Case filled to the brim with our guns. I took this picture Sunday before we went to the range for target practice.

At the left is my two Glocks, in the center is Verna’s S&W revolver and on the right is her S&W and Para Warthog pistols.

Yes it was fun at the range, as ususal.

Fire Expo at the Botanic Garden

We diverted from our usual Saturday errands when we saw that there was a LA County Fire Department Expo in progress at the Botanic Garden. This giant American Flag was suspended between a fire department crane and a hook and ladder truck’s extended ladder. Click the image for the wide angle view.

Bucket of Ammo

After a trip to the firing range, we clean up the guns and then reload the magazines. The rounds are placed in a little plastic bowl to make it easier to grab a handful. I like the way the shiny brass and copper looks, so I took a picture.

Disappearing Airplane at the Reagan Library

stealth-af1.jpgYesterday, my Mom and two of my sisters visited us. While they were here we talked about all kinds of things. At one point, photography came up and we discussed favorite photos we have taken. Well, of course, I had to show this picture I took of the now-retired Air Force One aircraft at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, in Simi Valley.

When I stood directly behind the airplane, the highly-polished metallic surface on the vertical fin made the airplane look almost transparent. I knew when I took this photo that I would get this translucent effect.

As for the Reagan Library itself, all I can say is that to call this wonderful historical exhibit a ‘Library’ sells it short of the eclectic museum it actually is.
