valanim.gifLong celebrated as a religious feast, St. Valentines Day has become the second most popular day of the year to exchange greeting cards, Christmas being the most popular. Eighty-five percent of Valentines Greeting cards are purchased by women.

Wickenburg Station

Wickenburg Station

Verna took this photo of the tracks and the old train station downtown this afternoon. The train station isn’t active these days since the freight trains that go along this track seldom stop in Wickenburg and there are no passenger trains that run here any more.

The train station building is home to the Wickenburg Chamber off Commerce, where they are getting ready to have their Annual Gold Rush Days this coming weekend. The events planned for this yearly celebration include a carnival, a classic car show, a parade, theater and two days of rodeo. It should be fun.

Cabela’s New Shirt

The Mama and Daddy got me this nice T-shirt today. It still is cool at night and since I have very short hair, the shirt keeps me warm. Bay Bay is getting a shirt next week so he can be warm like me. I don’t know what the words say, but the Mama and Daddy think it’s funny and cute like me. Click the picture to make me big.

What’s For Dinner?

Chicken Fried Steak

Chicken Fried Steak (beef tenderloin, of course), Mashed ‘Taters and Gravy with Savory Green Beans and Bacon. I butterflied two petite tenderloin steaks to pound out into four servings to be coated with Verna’s crust recipe and pan fried to perfection.

Verna also prepared garlic mashed potatoes and her wonderful gravy made from the steaks’ pan drippings. We also enjoyed our favorite green beans dish cooked with savory onions, minced garlic and chopped bacon. Man, this was the ultimate in comfort food!
